Case story
This case was a bit of miracle to us. It teaches us how pro-active efforts can sometime make difference. We will always remember this landmark.
1997 saw Tongfang’s getting publicly listed on the Shanghai stock exchange raising spectacularly from the moment of its introduction. Mr Chen Dan (Bang”s chairman) guessed that this company did not have any visual identity. He decided on his own to make several design for them but did not know their contact information. After several tries, a message came back to him that Tongfang was in fact inviting for the public bidding of their logo. Mr. Chen created many more designs for them. “This may sound a bit ridiculous, but I always have a special feeling when I create just the right design... and yes, we won the bid!” Mr Chen Dan commented.
Solution
We employ the square, circle, oval & an abstract arc, to create a dynamic combination, which is direct, concise & compelling mark with three dimensional features. It possesses a deep nature with profound meaningful roots, which are permanent and timeless. The concision refer to the elegance of high technology, engineering & science. The combination of square, and arc is signified by the chinese character ”同”. The square is written in Chinese ”方”. Written together we can read “TONGFANG”.
In terms of brand perception, the square symbolize reason, righteousness, stability and morality, hinting an upright corporate culture, gathering people with similar ideals, delivering significant solution to the world.
Red and blue are the colors of the sun and the sea, they provide a sharp visual contrast. Blue, often relate to science with the spirit of a pioneer.
Red is emotional, positive and warm... the bright future of Tongfang.
Black is stable, unaffected, grave giving a sensation of authority.
The logo is extremely visible, recognizable, memorable and easy to use to communicate the brand message.
